Broadcom's single - and dual-channel pyroelectric detectors are available in the TO-39 package

Broadcom's thin-film pyroelectric infrared (IR) flame detectors offer unusually high response rates, a wide field of view (typically 100°, limited by filter bandpass specifications), and fast recovery from thermal shock and electrical hit (typically 1-second shutdown). This current mode sensor has an excellent signal-to-noise ratio over the 8 Hz to 10 Hz flicker range of the flame. It can identify the flame source accurately in the three infrared flame detection system.

The sensor element is built into a low noise circuit with a CMOS operational amplifier with a 10 GΩ feedback resistor that outputs a voltage signal around half the power track. Broadcom thin-film pyroelectric infrared sensors are used for gas detection and other substance concentration measurements with extremely high response, low shrinkage, and excellent thermal and electrical stability.

This high performance current mode sensor achieves a signal to noise ratio of ~10,000 and provides fast, stable response over a wide range of operating frequencies.
