High voltage WTB connectors are designed to save space for battery applications

     Hirose has expanded its high-voltage WTB connectors to include a highly heat-resistant version with a space-saving design. The ZG05HV series WTB connectors support applications up to 125C, making them ideal for automotive applications such as batteries, converters, ECUs, inverters and on-board charging connections. Series connectors are also commonly used in battery applications.

     The series features a specialized housing that provides sufficient creepage and spatial distance between contacts to achieve high voltage ratings (1,000V) and withstand voltages (3,000V) in a compact size. The 0.5mm label size connector has a 3.3mm pitch, combining space savings and high performance without compromising reliability.

     The three-point contact design (one spring and two embossed contacts) combined with the double spring increases the contact force, prevents external vibration and improves reliability in high vibration conditions. In addition, the depth of the contacts inside the housing eliminates the risk of electric shock during assembly.

     Pete Lais, assistant vice president of product management at Hirose Electric Americas, said: "The ZG05HV series is designed for high-pressure applications that withstand extreme vibrations. "The new wire-to-board connectors meet customer demand for high-heat and vibration-resistant connectors that support high-voltage applications, all in a smaller form factor." The fit key prevents misfits when multiple connectors are used. The series is currently available in a 6-bit version, with a 10-bit connector under development.
