Micron Technology has introduced a new line of SAS solid-state drives (SSDS)

     Micron Technology, Inc. announced the launch of a new line of SAS solid-state drives (SSDS). The new products are geared toward customers who want their enterprise applications (such as data analytics, financial transactions, and media streaming) to run without interruption, and are optimized for workloads.

     Compared to previous hard drive offerings, the new Micron S600DC SSD family offers customers a full range of benefits: consistent performance, industry-leading storage capacity, and superior data availability and security, making IT an attractive solution for IT managers. The SSD family is the first product family developed under a strategic agreement between Micron and Seagate earlier this year, combining the two companies' expertise in flash memory innovation and SAS expertise.

     Currently, flash memory technology is driving the SAS market boom. Micron expects SAS SSDS to grow by 59%* over the next four years. SSD adoption is growing rapidly in business-critical and data-intensive applications, such as credit card transactions and health record processing, where data availability and reliability are highly valued. The S600DC family, which includes the S610DC, S630DC, and S650DC, delivers the performance benefits of Micron's trusted flash technology while delivering the enhanced enterprise-class reliability, capacity, and encryption that today's storage architects demand.
