NXP Semiconductors Universal LCD driver improves display capabilities
The NXP Semiconductor Universal LCD driver PCF8576DT/ f2518 assembly, available from WIN SOURCE, is a powerful solution that can connect virtually any LCD with low multiplexing rates, providing unmatched versatility in many applications. The introduction of the PCF8576DT/ f2518 marks a significant advance in the integration of precision LCD displays into electronics projects, providing enhanced user interfaces and capabilities for a wide range of devices.
At the heart of the design are single-chip LCD controller and driver capabilities that support a variety of backplane driver configurations, including static or up to four backplane multiplexing. It provides optional display bias configurations for static, 1/2 or 1/3 bias, and enhances the configuration generated by internal LCD bias with a voltage follower buffer. Capable of driving up to 40 segments of output, can accommodate up to 20 7-segment numeric characters, up to 10 14-segment alphanumeric characters, or any graphic containing up to 160 segments/elements.
The component is equipped with 40×4-bit RAM for efficient display data storage, facilitates automatic increase of display data load across device sub-address boundaries, and provides a multi-functional flashing mode. It helps provide a separate power supply for LCD and logic voltages, with a combined power supply range from 1.8V to 5.5V, and a logic LCD power supply range from 2.5V(low threshold LCD) to 6.5V(high threshold twisted nematic LCD).
This universal LCD driver stands out for its low power consumption and powerful 400kHz i2c bus interface, making it an excellent choice for energy-intensive applications requiring high-performance display solutions. It is scalable, can be cascaded for large LCD applications with up to 2560 segments/components without external components, is compatible with glass on chip and chip on chip technology, and is manufactured using a silicon gate CMOS process for enhanced reliability and performance.
