ST works with software design companies to develop software development tools
Spanning multiple electronic applications, STMicroelectronics' STM32 microcontroller is the industry's largest selection of free Integrated Development environments (ides). Being able to achieve the simplest development process is the best choice for innovative enterprises.
STM32 users can now choose the most suitable development environment and suite from three integrated development environments developed by market-leading software design companies. This is due to the close collaboration between the software design company and ST, and the software tools are freely available to STM32 users. Users can choose between CooCoxCoIDE or STM32 Ac6 System Workbench, two Eclipse-based integrated development environments, or MDK-ARM software development environments. These tools have no line limit, support all STM32 required configuration files and firmware, and intuitive hardware devices such as the STM32 Nucleo evaluation board or Discovery Kit for design verification and application development.
Michel Buffa, General Manager of ST MicroController Products, said: "The STM32 product family has the widest selection of free integrated development environments in the ARM® Cortex-M microcontroller market, which gives designers more choice and helps them find a suitable design environment with minimal upfront investment. The unique ease of use of these development tools makes it easier for innovators and the development community to successfully turn ideas into new products."
The STM32 Ac6 System Workbench and CooCox IDE integrated development environment support all STM32 microcontrollers based on ARM Cortex-M0, M0+, M3 and M4 kernels. The free Keil MDK-ARM development environment supports the STM32F0 and STM32L0 families based on the Cortex-M0 and M0+ kernels, simplifying the migration of application development from the traditional 8-bit architecture to the Cortex-32-bit architecture without any restrictions.
All three integrated development environments run on the Windows® desktop platform. St expects to release the STM32 Ac6 System Workbench integrated development environment for Linux and Mac OSX systems in the second quarter of 2015. The Chinese version of CooCoxCoIDE and the Chinese, Japanese and Korean versions of MDK-ARM will further enhance the convenience of STM32 products for users worldwide. In addition, integrated development environment developers provide technical support and regular software update services to users.
