Synaptics introduces the industry's first UHD-enabled display product

     Synaptics, Inc., a leading developer of human-computer interaction solutions, announced the launch of four new display driver integrated circuit (DDIC) solutions, including the industry's first to support Ultra-high definition (UHD) resolution. These feature-rich latest products were developed at the Synaptics Design Center in Japan and enhance Synaptics' industry-leading DDIC product lineup, which supports a wide range of smartphones and tablets from flagship to mid - to low-end models from global device manufacturers.

     The Synaptics DDIC product line fully supports a Wide range of display resolutions from HD (HD), full HD (FHD), Wide Quad HD (WQHD) to Ultra-High Definition (UHD). Thanks to their single-chip design, these latest solutions introduced today are the smallest in the industry, consume the least power, require the fewest external components, and deliver the absolute highest image quality.

     The Synaptics DDIC solution uses innovative Local Contrast Automatic Optimization (ACO) technology and is the only product in the industry to support 1 billion display colors. Unlike traditional global ACO, which uses the same tone curve for the entire display area, Synaptics' local ACO provides optimal contrast compensation for each image display area, producing a different tone curve for each pixel.

     The Synaptics DDIC solution also improves color space management with the latest Color Enhancement (CE 4.0) feature. CE 4.0 can adjust the white level independently of RGBCMY for precise color control, which is a unique feature of Synaptics. Image quality was also improved in other ways by Synaptics' original Super Scaling technology, which produces smooth images without aliasing and outperforms traditional scaling techniques using the nearest neighbor method.
