TI introduces the industry's first 20A and 30A synchronous DC/DC buck converters

     TI introduces the industry's first 20A and 30A synchronous DC/DC buck converters. This converter synchronizes noise and EMI/EMC frequency reduction, and a power management bus (PMBus) interface for Adaptive voltage scaling (AVS). TI's SWIFT 20A TPS544B25 and 30A TPS544C25 converters incorporate MOSFETs and are specifically packaged in a small PowerStack square flat leadless (QFN) package to drive application-specific integrated circuits (ASics) in space-constrained and power-intensive applications. These applications include wired and wireless communications, enterprise-class cloud computing, and data storage systems. Combined with TI's award-winning WEBENCH online design tool, it not only simplifies the power conversion process, but also speeds up the power design process.

     This highly integrated converter features 0.5% reference voltage accuracy and fully differential remote voltage sensing to meet the voltage needs of deep submicron processors. Synchronizing with the frequency of the external clock eliminates beat noise and reduces EMI. In addition, the TPS544B25 and TPS544C25 provide pins for integration that enable the device to be started to an output voltage set by a single resistor without PMBus instructions. Programmability, real-time monitoring of output voltage and current and external temperature, and fault reporting through PMBus simplify power supply design, increase reliability, and reduce component count and system costs.
