Texas Instruments Begins Construction in Utah on a New 300-mm Wafer Production Facility

     In Lehi, Utah, Texas Instruments initiated construction on its 300-mm semiconductor wafer production facility (or “fab”). TI President and Chief Executive Officer Haviv Ilan, accompanied by state and local elected officials, community leaders, and Utah Governor Spencer Cox, witnessed the inaugural stages of construction for the 300-mm wafer fab LFAB2, which will be linked to the organization’s current facility in Lehi. At peak capacity, TI’s two Utah fabrication facilities will produce tens of millions of analog and embedded processing chips daily once they are finished.

     TI announced its $11 billion economic investment in Utah in February, the highest investment in the state’s recorded history. LFAB2 is projected to generate thousands of indirect jobs and an estimated 800 additional TI positions by 2026, when initial production will commence.

     TI intends to allocate $9 million to the Alpine School District for the establishment of the state’s inaugural Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) learning community, catering to students spanning kindergarten to 12th grade. This investment represents TI’s dedication to the field of education. The multiyear initiative will provide STEM-focused professional development for the district’s educators and administrators and integrate STEM concepts more deeply into the curriculum for the district's 85,000 students will be prepared for post-graduation success with critical thinking, collaboration, and creative problem-solving, among other indispensable STEM competencies, thanks to the district-wide program.
