The first LTE Cat 1bis module for flexible and reliable connection management with built-in eSIM

     U-blox has announced SARA-R10001DE, an LTE Cat 1bis module with embedded eSIM and wireless logic connectivity designed to improve the robustness, reliability and resiliency of iot applications. Integrating eSIM ensures flexible connection management and allows customers to switch to the best network in terms of coverage and cost. The module delivers faster deployment and reliable connectivity regardless of geographic location, offering multiple application benefits including asset tracking, telematics, micromobility, solar technology, smart home and city, and POS.

     The new module provides full LTE Cat 1bis band support and eSIM with multi-IMSI technology and eUICC capabilities. eSIM has been configured with a series of wireless logical SIM profiles, but remote configurations can also be configured via OTA using remote SIM configuration.

     Multiple SIM profiles stored in the Wireless Logic eSIM enable modules to automatically connect to the optimal network. This enables the module to always be connected to the optimal network, and if there are any problems, the eSIM will automatically switch to a different carrier, thus maintaining a reliable connection. Embedded eSIM streamlines customer logistics as it minimizes the time and effort involved in managing SIM purchases and eliminates the need to procure supporting components, such as SIM holders.

     As the module allows customers to simplify logistics and reduce complexity, further cost savings can be achieved. Bundling iot modules with flexible connectivity enables customers to use a single SKUs instead of multiple SKUs with different SIM cards in a warehouse, simplifying inventory trips and reducing storage requirements.

     Embedded eSIM improves robustness and reliability in harsh environments. Unlike plastic sim cards, eSIM components can be welded like standard electronic components to ensure permanent electrical contact. SARA-R10001DE is designed to provide LTE global coverage, providing an easy migration path for legacy 2G and 3G devices to 4G LTE global coverage.
