Vishay's new high power UV LED with silicone lens ceramic substrate has an extremely long service life

     Vishay Intertechnology has announced the launch of a new ceramic based high power UV LED device in the VLMU35xx series, the VLMU3510-365-130, with a silicone lens with a wavelength in the 365nm range. Vishay Semiconductors VLMU3510-365-130 Reliable performance, energy saving, can replace the traditional mercury lamp, very long service life, in a small size 3.45mm x 3.45mm surface mount package, can be used in medical, industrial and printing fields.

     The silicone lens of the VLMU3510-365-130 gives the device a whopping 25,000 hours of service life, much longer than the 10,000 hours typical of mercury lamps. UV LED is environmentally friendly, does not contain heavy metals, is more reliable, can withstand shocks, even if frequent switching will not appear performance degradation. The mercury lamp requires a complex drive circuit and takes 2 to 15 minutes to preheat, while the VLMU3510-365-130 uses a simple low-voltage circuit and has no preheating time.

     These devices are manufactured using InGaN(Indium gallium nitride) technology with typical radiated power of 690mW, 945mW at 500mA and 700mA, and wavelengths between 362.5nm and 370nm. VLMU3510-365-130 has an emission Angle of 130° and a radiation intensity of 315mW/sr at 700mA.

     The performance specifications of leds make them ideal for UV curing in nail art, dental and poster printing, blood and counterfeit banknote inspection, and photocatalytic purification. The VLMU3510-365-130 is RoHS and Vishay green compliant, halogen-free, reflow soldable and moisture sensitive to J-STD-020 level 3.
