Non-contact digital Hall switch sensor
Standex Electronics' digital Hall switch sensors provide reliable, high-precision magnetic induction over larger detection gaps while meeting the demanding requirements of industrial applications. Hall switch sensors use solid state Hall effect technology with proven long-term reliability, providing bounce-free operation over a wide range of temperatures. Another key factor in ensuring the longevity of the sensors is that Standex Electronics' sensors come in fully sealed, environmentally sustainable enclosures.
Both HS1 and DHS1 Hall switch sensors measure speed, position, proximity or count at the 55 Gauss switch operating point. The HS1 Hall switch sensor uses a single digital square wave output pulse sensitive to the South Pole. The unipolar sensor does not respond to the North Pole magnetic field and only opens/closes in the presence or absence of the South Pole magnetic field. When a South Pole magnetic field is present, the HS1 sensor with an NPN output will open and emit a low output signal. However, when the sensor is turned on, the PNP output changes to a high level.
The DHS1 Hall switch sensor is all-polar and is used as a directional limit switch using a dual digital pulse output, one South Pole and one North Pole. In this case, magnets can be installed at either end of the range of motion. When the South Pole magnetic field is detected, the sensor's channel A output opens and becomes low, while channel B output closes and becomes high. In contrast, when the South Pole magnetic field contracts, the sensor's channel A output closes and becomes high, while channel B output opens and becomes low. Note that the South Pole element is near the sensor surface and will be detected with a slightly larger operating clearance.
Hall switch sensor can work in any direction. Standex Electronics sensors sealed in threaded housing are fitted with lock nuts for setting the air gap. In contrast, the easy-to-install flanged mounting housing creates a fixed air gap between the target and the sensor face. The target detection gap depends on the shape, size and iron content of the target.
Standex Electronics customizes Hall switch sensors based on the user's specific application, including selective unipole or all-pole detection. Modify, update or enhance any sensor with a large selection of enclosures and connections. Sensor enclosures include, but are not limited to, molded, aluminum, stainless steel, threaded, flanged, and user-specific packages. Connection types include all-in-one connectors, Deutsch, Amphenol, pigtail, and free end wires of any length. Typical applications include speed, position, proximity or count detection of rare earth magnets or magnetic fields in automotive and heavy equipment, agricultural equipment, manufacturing and industrial systems
