2EDN EiceDRIVER MOSFET drivers set new standards for reliability and low power consumption

     Infineon Technologies AG introduces the new 2EDN7524 EiceDRIVER™ driver chip for the PFC, LLC and synchronous rectifier stages of switching power supplies. This chip family is the first dedicated MOSFET driver that Infineon offers using its extensive expertise and leading market position. The 2EDN product line, which builds on the existing EiceDRIVER family, is an important link between control ics and MOSFETs (such as CoolMOS C7) and GaN(gallium nitride) switchgear. The 2EDN MOSFET driver chip enables higher system efficiency, superior power density, and consistent system reliability.

     The 2EDN EiceDRIVER IC comes in an industry-standard 8-pin package with two separate, non-isolated low-side channels, each capable of supporting 5 A peak pull current. Both channels can achieve a typical rise and fall time of 5 ns, while the 1 ns inter-channel delay matching allows the two channels to be used in parallel, doubling the total drive current.

     Although the current is increased, the on-state resistance (RDS(ON)) of the output stage is very low, which minimizes power consumption of the driver chip - even with very small gate resistors or without any external gate resistors. The driver chip can withstand voltages up to -10 VDC at the signal input and enable end, so it can effectively cope with ground rebound and improve system reliability.
