Accurate measurement and in-depth analysis of distance sensors and io link interfaces

     Pepperl + Fuchres has introduced a measuring sensing distance sensor with an IO-Link interface. These devices are suitable for Industry 4.0 applications and provide high-precision measurement capabilities and comprehensive condition monitoring and predictive maintenance information.

     The sensors can detect objects at speeds of up to 3 m/s and provide accurate measurement data with a repetition accuracy of 5%. Its measuring range is up to 30 mm. The sensor determines the speed and acceleration of the damping element. Two independent switching Windows and defined limit values can be parameterized separately. Adjustable filters allow measurement speed and accuracy to be adjusted. High switching frequencies of up to, 1300Hz allow for very short throughput times, thus helping to increase productivity.

     Additional data, including temperature, operating time and counter, is transmitted via the IO-Link interface. The monitoring of speed and acceleration and the historical values of these variables allow detailed analysis of sub-processes such as valve opening/closing and acceleration/braking of absorbing elements. This monitoring of machine status enables predictive maintenance and prevents unplanned downtime. Devices with analog outputs can also be used for classical applications.
