Analog Devices and Renesas Electronics have partnered to develop 77/79-GHz automotive RADAR technology
Analog Devices, a global leader in high-performance analog technology, and Renesas Electronics, a global leader in semiconductor solutions, announced that they will collaborate to develop a system-level 77/79-GHz RADAR sensor demonstration to improve advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) applications for driverless vehicles. The new demonstration combines two cutting-edge technologies, including the Renesas Autonomy platform's RH850/V1R-M microcontroller (MCU) and Analog Devices' Drive360 advanced 28nm CMOS RF to bit technology.

The seamless collaboration of the two technologies at the system level enables the early detection of small, fast-moving objects at greater distances, enabling safer driving. It will also reduce the difficulty of RADAR system integration and evaluation risk for automotive Oems and Tier 1 suppliers.
Jean-Francois Chouteau, Vice president of Renesas Electronics' Global ADAS Center, said: "RADAR sensors are essential for all ADAS or autonomous driving functions. The partnership combines the superior resources of Analog Devices and Renesas to achieve high performance, enabling Oems and Tier 1 suppliers to reduce development costs and time to market.
