Analog Devices introduces single-chip, universal output digital-to-analog converters

     Analog Devices announces the AD5761R, a single-chip, general-purpose output digital-to-analog converter (DAC) with on-chip integration of a 16-bit data converter, a ±2 ppm/°C 2.5V reference voltage source, an output buffer, and gain regulation. The AD5761R converter is built with a range of innovative features that eliminate the need for external components such as gain setting precision resistors and amplifiers. In data acquisition and actuator control applications, the device simplifies and speeds up system design and enables unipolar and bipolar operations through software register updates.

     The flexible new DAC makes it easy to reuse designs for multifunctional end devices without increasing system design effort, cost, or size, while enhancing system functionality with multiple output voltage ranges. In addition, ADI announced two dual-channel DC-DC regulators that power new Dacs with two independently regulated positive and negative rails for power-sensitive applications. This simple dual-chip solution allows users to generate a bipolar 10 V output from a single low-voltage positive supply rail, significantly simplifying system design and eliminating the need to route multiple high-voltage supply rails.

     The AD5761R comes in a single-chip 3 mm x 3 mm LFCSP standard package, which saves 60% of the floor space compared to previous discrete solutions and is suitable for small size designs, such as actuator control. The total non-adjustable error (± 0.15% FSR maximum) is true and includes all on-chip circuits and reference voltage sources. This allows for a more accurate final system, eliminating the need for multiple system calibration routines in an industrial environment. For lower cost and lower precision products in the same range, we offer pin-compatible 12-bit versions and the option to include no reference voltage source.
