Automotive compliant active crossbar multiplexers simplify connectivity in the smart cockpit

     Diodes Incorporated has introduced an automotive-compliant 10Gbps 6:4 active crossbar multiplexer with a linear ReDriver. The compact PI3DPX1225Q switches between USB 3.2 and DisplayPort 2.1 signals via a USB Type-C connector and provides low-latency connectivity with high signal integrity for smart cockpit and rear-seat entertainment systems.

     The device supports three modes of operation: one USB 3.2 Gen 2 channel connected to a USB Type-C connector, one USB 3.2 Gen 2 channel connected to two DP 2.1 UHBR10 channels, or four DP 2.1 UHBR10 channels. The device also includes an AUX listener and conforms to the USB Type-C standard to switch AUX channels when a rollover cable is detected.

     For each USB 3.2 Gen 2 and DP 2.1 UHBR10 operating mode, the differential signal can be easily adjusted via continuous time linear equalization (CTLE). The output compression swing (-1dB) and flat gain values are controlled by the I2C setting. By reducing inter-symbol interference (ISI) jitter, 10Gbps signal performance is optimized on a variety of physical media. Linear equalization does not block adaptive channel control of the decision feedback Equalizer (DFE) receiver - this supports DP 2.1 transparent link training (LT) without relying on DP-AUX channel listeners.
