Bosch Sensortec introduces the industry's first customizable, programmable 9-axis motion sensor

     Bosch Sensortec introduces the BMF055 - a compact 9-axis motion sensor that can be programmed for specific applications. The BMF055 is ideal for users who want to develop advanced application-specific sensor fusion algorithms, add complex motion sensing capabilities, and replace multiple discrete components in a single package. The target markets for this device include robotics, gaming, remote controls, navigation systems, drones, and human-machine interface devices for iot projects.

     The new sensors from Bosch Sensortec's application-specific ASSN(Sensor Node) family combine accelerometers, gyroscopes and magnetometers with the Cortex M0+ processor from Atmel's SAMD20 microcontroller family. In a compact 5.2 x 3.8 x 1.1mm3 package, the unit delivers high-level functionality through a "one-stop" solution that makes integration easier for customers.

     Bosch Sensortec has provided a software development kit for the BMF055 that includes a pre-compiled BSX Lite fusion library with integration guidelines, API source files for individual sensors, and a sample project as an Atmel Studio plug-in. The Atmel toolchain can be downloaded from the Atmel website. This software development kit will allow customers to easily develop autonomous application-specific firmware for the BMF055 sensor without the need for an additional application processor.
