Bourns extends the critically acclaimed Multifuse ultra-low impedance surface mount PPTC resetable fuse

     Bourns, a leading global manufacturer of electronic components, today announced the expansion of its highly rated Multifuse positive temperature coefficient polymer (PPTC) returnable fuse. Bourns introduces a new series MF-PSML(size 0805), adding low-profile components to the company's existing MF-NSML(size 1206) and MF-USML(size 1210) product lines. Bourns is massively expanding its Multifuse product line to provide design engineers with a wide range of low-impedance overcurrent and circuit overheat protection solutions to overcome space constraints and meet their application needs.

     With a small package size range of 1210 to 0805, the expanded Multifuse product line offers better returnable fuse performance, better Ihold current (up to 7.0 Amps), increased voltage (Vmax), and post-action impedance as low as 12 mOhms. Thus the impedance stability is better. For example, the ultra-low impedance helps improve the current holding capacity of this product line, with models as small as 1210 packets (MF-USML700-2) now offering up to 7 Amps. In today's smaller lithium-ion battery devices, these features allow batteries to last longer and charge faster, making the new model an ideal retractable protection solution for many portable electronic applications.

     All of these new Multifuse products incorporate Bourns' freeXpansion technology, a space-saving process that further reduces the volume of surface-mounted packets and allows Multifuse® components to handle larger currents and voltages with better impedance stability.
