Contributing to the medical technology sector, Sensirion completes the SFM3xxx gas flow meter product line

     Sensirion, the world's leading sensor manufacturer, has introduced five medical gas flow meters with different characteristics: SFM3000, SFM3100, SFM3200, SFM3200-AW and SFM3300-AW. These five high-performance gas flowmeters further complete the SFM3xxx series medical product line layout and provide a comprehensive solution for the measurement of various air flows in the field of medical technology.

     Thanks to their high accuracy and robustness, the Sensirion SFM3xxx series sensors are adapted to the gas flow requirements of a range of medical applications, such as respiration, anesthesia, aerosol inhalers and drug delivery measurements. At the same time, careful calibration and temperature compensation technology allow the SFM3xxx series to maximize its performance, helping it accurately measure the two-way flow rate of air and other non-aggressive gases. The performance of the series in terms of low pressure loss and high reaction speed is also impressive.

     The SFM3000, SFM3100 and SFM3200 are the latest additions to the Sensirion SFM3xxx series, which excel in suction flow measurement. The SFM3000 is an electronic gas flowmeter in the SFM3xxx series designed for high-flow applications with an excellent cost/performance ratio that can effectively reduce healthcare costs. The SFM3100 is an analog version of Sensirion's product that can be easily integrated into existing equipment to optimize measurements. As a new member of the SFM3xxx family, the SFM3200 has an extremely wide dynamic measurement range that ensures accurate measurement even at low flow rates, making it particularly suitable for medical ventilators and other respiratory system applications.

     The other two upgraded flowmeters for high temperature and high pressure disinfection, SFM3200-AW and SFM3300-AW, made their debut at the German Medical Raw Materials and Medical Devices Exhibition (COMPAMED 2015). Once launched, it is highly sought after by the market. The newly equipped SFM3200-AW and SFM3300-AW aerometers feature CMOSens patented technology that is not only resistant to high temperature and pressure disinfection, but also easier to clean, with extremely high accuracy and strength, especially suitable for measuring expiratory flow in medical applications such as ventilators or anesthesia. In addition, SFM3200-AW and SFM3300-AW can be sterilized and reused in a high temperature sterilizer, maintaining stable operation even after repeated cleaning and cyclic high temperature and pressure disinfection.

     At low flow rates, the SFM3200-AW is undoubtedly a leader in medical gas flowmeters. Its information processing is fast and accurate, and it can detect extremely small pressure changes, both at very low flow rates and at flow rates up to 250 SLM(standard L/min), providing highly accurate measurements. The SFM3200-AW can withstand intense work even in harsh environments.

     Compared to the SFM3200-AW, the SFM3300-AW has demonstrated exceptional performance in bidirectional airflow measurement, accurately measuring bidirectional flow rates up to 250 SLM(standard L/min). The relatively small dead zone makes it more suitable for installation near the patient end, and the large pressure drop ensures stable performance even in the case of unstable airflow.
