Cypress expands its product line with industry-leading automotive touch screens

     Cypress Semiconductor expands its portfolio of automotive solutions with the introduction of capacitive touch controllers with state-of-the-art water resistance, glove touch performance and electromagnetic immunity. Cypress improves the electromagnetic immunity of this product with its proprietary technology AutoArmor. The TrueTouch CYAT8165X controller for the new car is suitable for displays up to 8.5 inches, and the TrueTouch CYAT8168X controller for the Cypress car in the same family is suitable for displays up to 15 inches.

     Cypress AutoArmor meets the most stringent Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) (CISPR 25) technical specifications of automotive manufacturers as well as chat-level leakage (IEC 61967), conduction (IEC 62132) and radiation (ISO 11452) immunity requirements. AutoArmor uses automatic frequency hopping technology to prevent false contact caused by electromagnetic interference generated by other electronic systems, and uses TX spread spectrum to reduce electromagnetic leakage.

     With high accuracy and linearity, the TrueTouch CYAT8165X series controllers seamlessly recognize touch movements made by fingers of different sizes and gloves of various materials and thicknesses, including ski gloves, and automatically switch between glove and finger tracking modes without requiring the driver to switch Settings. This series of controllers includes up to 48 I/O ports with an I2C or SPI host processor interface for improved touch screen responsiveness.

     The series uses Cypress's patented DualSense technology to perform self-capacitance and mutual capacitance measurements on the same device, providing the industry's best water resistance and wet finger tracking for perfect fluid performance in real-world environments, resistant to droplets, condensation or sweat.
