ESD protection diode for automotive Ethernet

     Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. has released a new automotive-grade bidirectional single-wire ESD protection diode in a compact DFN1006-2B package with wet-able flanking. Optimized for automotive Ethernet that meets the OPEN Alliance 100Base-T1 and 1000Base-T1 specifications, the space-saving VETH100A1DD1 provides low clamp voltage, dynamic resistors and capacitors to protect high-speed data lines from transient voltage signals.

     With a smaller footprint and lower form factor compared to other standard packages, the device has a very low clamping voltage, typically 31V at 1A, thanks to its bounce back technology with a trigger voltage >100V. Combined with the typical low dynamic resistance of 0.4W, the protective diode provides better ESD absorption performance and protection, while its low maximum capacitance of 2pF allows for higher signal integrity.

     The device provides transient protection for data lines, conforming to ISO 10605 and IEC 610004.2 for 1000 pulses at ±15kV(contact discharge). The protective diode is available in AEC-Q101 version for automotive applications and operates at ±24V. The device's end products include industrial automation systems, computers, consumer entertainment devices, home appliances, fixed telecommunications infrastructure, and medical instruments. The protective diodes offer a humidity sensitivity rating (MSL) of 1 according to J-STD-020 and UL 94 V-0 flammability ratings. The device is rohs compliant, halogen-free and Vishay Green, supporting AOI for automotive systems.
