Linear Technology demonstrated its breakthrough wireless battery management system in the BMW i3 at the Munich Shanghai Electronics Show

Developed by Linear Technology's design partner LION Smart, the wireless BMS concept combines Linear Technology's highly accurate battery pack monitor and SmartMesh. Wireless grid networking products are integrated on the BMW i3 model, replacing the traditional wired connection between the battery pack and the battery management system. This major breakthrough by BMS solves long-standing reliability issues caused by automotive wiring harnesses and connecting wires in electric and hybrid/electric vehicles, and simplifies BMS design and manufacturing.
