Microchip Technology introduces advanced Wi-Fi products for industrial and commercial applications

     With the rapid rise of Industry 4.0, artificial intelligence, digital manufacturing and the Internet of Things era, the demand for wireless connectivity in commercial and industrial applications is growing at an alarming rate. These applications often require reliable connections that can withstand extreme environments such as high temperatures, background noise, and obstacles. To meet this demand, Microchip Technology has added 20 products to its Wi-Fi portfolio. One of the industry's broadest wireless connectivity product lines, the company offers high-performance Wi-Fi MCUS, network and link controllers, and plug and play modules designed to simplify development and accelerate time to market.

     The company's Wi-Fi solutions are designed to support a wide range of application needs and developer skill levels. The modules available range from modules that are regulatory certified in several countries, require no RF expertise and little programming, to powerful SOCs with industrial-grade capabilities.

     The company's Wi-Fi portfolio includes Wi-Fi MCUS, an all-in-one solution designed to combine the capabilities of an MCU with reliable wireless connectivity. Link controller provides an SDIO interface that enables Linux MPUs to add Wi-Fi. The network controller provides an SPI interface that allows wireless connections to be added to the MCU. The plug-and-play module sends simple text commands from the MCU via the UART interface, simplifying the wireless to cloud connection.
