NXP expands portfolio to create high-resolution automotive radar sensors

     NXP Semiconductors has announced another addition to its industry-leading 77GHz radar portfolio. The NXP MR3003 radar transceiver used by the world's top automotive manufacturer is targeted at autonomous driving applications requiring high resolution and long range capabilities, and was developed specifically for forward and Angle radar. With the new NXP family of system components, automakers can get a system solution that truly suits their needs, including enabling high-performance imaging radar detection. At the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES), NXP and its partners will demonstrate a range of radar applications aimed at expanding the role of radar in future vehicles.

     The rise of autonomous driving has changed the radar market landscape. With the increasing demand for forward viewing angles and 360-degree circumnavigation detection, automakers need to seek the best RF performance, power consumption and sensor size based on the specific application and the location of the radar in the vehicle.

     NXP's full range of radar transceivers form the industry's only radar portfolio based on BiCMOS and advanced RFCMOS process technologies, leveraging a complete system solution to meet automotive manufacturers' needs. The NXP Radar portfolio, combined with the NXP S32R automotive radar processing platform, connected ics, and power management solutions, helps automakers develop systems ranging from compact radar sensors to high-resolution imaging radar detection applications that drive the adoption of radar across all vehicle types. It is estimated that more than 50% of all automotive radar modules shipped in 2017 used NXP radar technology .
