On Semiconductor introduces the highest resolution interline transfer CCD image sensor for demanding industrial imaging applications
Driving energy efficiency innovation, ON Semiconductor introduces the world's highest resolution interline transfer CCD device, the KAI-47051 image sensor, to achieve new levels of performance and energy efficiency for rigorous industrial inspection and mapping applications. The KAI-47051 comes in a RoHS-compliant PGA-201 package with Monochrome, Bayer, and Sparse Color configurations.
The 47 megapixel (MP) KAI-47051 image sensor improves the resolution of applications such as production line terminal flat panel inspection and aerial photography by more than 50% over the KAI 29050 image sensor widely used in these applications today; While retaining the CCD-level image uniformity and global shutter architecture required for these applications. The new devices are designed to meet the growing inspection demand for higher resolution smartphones, tablets, computer monitors and televisions; And improve image quality and overall energy efficiency for monitoring applications such as aerial photography.
The KAI-47051 builds on the achievements of the existing 29-megapixel KAI-29050 image sensor, which is widely used for these same applications, in addition to providing higher resolution in a larger optical format, it incorporates a noise-reducing amplifier that reduces read noise by 15% compared to existing devices, increasing the dynamic range to 66 decibels (dB). The 16-channel architecture supports a maximum frame rate of 7 frames per second; It is almost twice as fast as existing lower resolution devices. Customers turning to the new KAI-47051 can enjoy these performance improvements without sacrificing the image quality or electronic shutter performance inherent in the CCD design.
