Power Integrations' InnoSwitch-CP IC significantly improves the charging performance of smart mobile devices

     Power Integrations, the industry leader in high-voltage integrated circuits for energy-efficient power conversion, has announced the InnoSwitch™-CP family of constant voltage/constant displacement flyback switching ics. The new device features constant power output technology that, when used with adaptive voltage protocols such as Qualcomm Quick Charge™ 3.0 or USB-PD, allows smart mobile device manufacturers to reduce charging times for a wide range of products. Developers adopt adaptive charging technology, which can significantly reduce charging time and improve charging efficiency, while also compatible with previous 5V output universal chargers using the USB BC 1.2 specification, which can minimize the cost of thermal management and battery charging systems.

     The InnoSwitch-CP IC uses Power Integrations' innovative FluxLink™ technology, which enables not only high performance secondary feedback control, but also the advantages of circuit simplicity and low component count typically found only in primary feedback control. FluxLink technology also optimizes output synchronous rectification, guaranteeing high efficiency over the entire load range. For example, at 230 VAC input, the on-load power consumption is less than 10 mW, while the full-load efficiency is up to more than 90%. InnoSwitch-CP devices easily meet all global energy efficiency standards.

     InnoSwitch-CP IC features a complete set of advanced protection features, including: Overvoltage protection (OVP); Automatic restart overcurrent protection (OCP) when output drops to 3V; Thermal shutdown protection with hysteresis and input overvoltage protection with precise input voltage slow rise/slow drop thresholds. The device is fully compliant with safety standards: 100% of the product is tested for HIPOT compliance with 6 kV DC for 1 second at production time; Strengthen insulation; Perform insulation voltage tests above 3,500 VAC. UL1577 and TUV (EN60950) safety certification, in accordance with EN61000-4-8 (100 A/m) and EN61000-4-9 (1000 A/m) standards.
