ST introduces 5x6mm double-sided cooling micro-package automotive grade power MOSFET tube

     STMicroelectronics introduces MOSFET transistors in the advanced PowerFLATTM 5x6 Double-sided cooling (DSC) package, which improves the power density of automotive system electronic control units (ECUs). It has been selected by Denso Co., LTD., a major auto parts manufacturer that provides advanced technology to all auto manufacturers around the world.

     STLD200N4F6AG and STLD125N4F6AG are 40V power transistors for automotive motor control, battery polarity reverse protection, and high-performance power switches. The 0.8mm thick PowerFLATTM 5x6 DSC package retains the standard package size and high thermal efficiency of the bottom design, while exposing the top source to further enhance thermal efficiency, which allows the internal chip to have a higher rated output current, improve power density, and enable designers to develop smaller ECUS. Without having to make trade-offs between functionality, performance and reliability.

     The new STLD200N4F6AG and STLD125N4F6AG have a maximum drain current of 120A and a maximum on-resistance of 1.5mΩ and 3.0mΩ respectively, ensuring high energy efficiency and simplifying system thermal management. In addition, the total gate charges are 172nC and 91nC respectively, and the device itself has a very low capacitance, which helps improve energy efficiency when switching at high speeds.

     The two 40V MOSFET devices are the first products in a new family of products from ST, using ST's STripFET™ F6 technology and slot gate architecture with a wide range of current and voltage ratings for automotive applications. The new MOSFETs can be used in extremely harsh operating environments, including engine compartments up to 175°C. These products are 100% avalanche rated, packaged wettable flank leads for optimal welding, and 100% support automatic optical inspection.
