STMicroelectronics announces Cannes Wi-Fi (STiH390) system chip

     STMicroelectronics announces Cannes Wi-Fi (STiH390) system chip targeting HD HEVC[1] Wi-Fi IP client and interactive set-top box markets. When watching their favorite TV shows via wireless networks on their phones, tablets, and set-top boxes, users expect the perfect visual experience at home. However, limited network coverage is frustrating, which also inhibits the potential of Wi-Fi to carry services, forcing Multiple Service Operators (Msos) to look for cost-effective, flexible design and easy installation solutions. To provide users with the perfect multi-room multimedia service.

     To meet the demand for affordable, high-quality, high-definition video at home, ST and Quantenna have developed the Cannes Wi-Fi (STiH390) system chip. The chipset integrates Quantenna's market-proven Wi-Fi 802.11IP with ST's latest HD HEVC system chip to significantly reduce cost without sacrificing performance.
