STMicroelectronics' free development tool enables developers to use STM32 microcontrollers in all desktop environments
STMicroelectronics has launched a free STM32 microcontroller development tool for Mac computer users. Now, MAC users can develop embedded designs in their familiar (and favorite) operating environment.
The STM32 development tool for Apple OS X supports the full flow of embedded design, with components including the STM32CubeMX graphical configuration tool and the System Workbench® for STM32[1] integrated development environment. The development environment includes drivers that give users direct access to ST's debugging and programming tools. The development tools are simple to install, easy to use, and quite what OS X users have come to expect.
This follows the recent release of STM32 development tools for Linux, which make it easy and fast for technicians and makers to get started with STM32 microcontrollers regardless of which major operating system they prefer, Windows, Linux, or OS X.
Development tools for different platforms that are compatible with the STM32Cube hardware abstraction layer (HAL) are available for free download from www.st.com/stm32cubemx and www.st.com/sw4stm32. Hardware Abstraction Layer), middleware and product demo code, as well as ST's standard peripheral firmware library. Users can also take advantage of the STM32Snippets low-overhead code, the STM32Cube extension package, and hardware tools to accelerate development, such as the STM32 Nucleo development board, the STM32 Discovery Suite, or the full-featured Evaluation Board.
STextends its free development tool to all major PC operating systems, allowing embedded system designers to choose from more than 600 STM32 microcontrollers. From low-frequency ARM® Cortex-M0 to high-speed Cortex-M7, the STM32 delivers performance and power across all cores. Cost-sensitive products have fewer integrated functions and fewer package pins; Feature-rich products integrate high-capacity flash memory and a variety of peripherals, such as high-precision analog modules, USB, Ethernet, and hardware encryption.
The STM32 product family includes two special STM32L ultra-low power microcontrollers, which are based on Cortex-M0 or Cortex-M4 processor cores optimized for energy-sensitive applications.
