Supermicro launches with a multi-product line

     Supermicro, a provider of comprehensive IT solutions for cloud, AI/ML, storage and 5G/ smart edge applications, announced the latest models in its breakthrough line of ultra-high performance, high-density PB-grade All-Flash NVMe servers. Supermicro's system in this high performance storage product family will support the next generation of EDSFF dimensions, including E3.S and E1.S devices, which can accommodate 16 and 32 high performance PCIe Gen5 NVMe drive slots.

     The first products in the updated lineup will support up to 1/2 PB of storage in a 1U 16-slot rmount system, followed by 1 PB of storage for Intel and AMD PCIe Gen5 platforms in a 2U 32-slot rmount system.

     With the development of CPU, GPU and memory technology, the speed and quantity of data processing in modern computing clusters are increasing. In order to supply data to applications efficiently and avoid the bottleneck of overall system speed, enhancing storage performance is also an indispensable key. Supermicro's PB-class All-Flash servers deliver industry-leading storage performance and capacity, helping customers reduce TCO by reducing the number of rack-mount systems needed to meet their thermal and warm tier storage requirements.

     These new Intel-powered systems are powered by two fourth-generation Intel Xeon expandable processors, a 270W TDP, and up to 32 DDR5-4800MHz DIMMs with a total memory capacity of 8TB. The AMD platform is powered by a 4th generation AMD EPYC™ processor with a 350W TDP and 24 DDR5-4800MHz DIMMs. These systems are designed for computationally intensive applications with heavy I/O requirements and heavy memory requirements.

     Supermicro's new system features two full-height half-length PCIe Gen5 x16 slots that support higher-level Xpus and smart nics, allowing users to run more smoothly with an emerging NVMe-Over-Fabric or GPU-accelerated storage that is disrupting traditional IT. In addition, two additional Supermicro PCIe Gen5 x16 AIOM (Advanced I/O module) slots for improved field maintainability and plug-in compatibility are compatible with a variety of existing OCP 3.0 network cards. The system uses the new NUMA balanced symmetrical architecture to provide the shortest signal path to the driver, balanced storage bandwidth, and multiple flexible networking options to reduce latency. At the same time, a symmetrical design helps air flow smoothly throughout the system, which allows for more efficient processors.
