Texas Instruments' converters provide power solutions for pre-voltage and voltage regulators packaged in small wafer chip level packages

The Texas Instruments TPS631010 is a constant-frequency peak-current mode controlled step-up converter in a microwafer chip-level package. The converter features A 3 A peak current limit (typical), 1.6V to 5.5V input voltage range, and provides a power solution for system preregulators and regulators. Depending on the input voltage, when the input voltage is approximately equal to the output voltage, the TPS631010 automatically operates in boost, step-down, or 3-cycle step-up mode.

Conversions between modes occur with defined duty ratios, and unnecessary switching within modes is avoided to reduce output voltage ripple. The 8 μA static current and power saving mode power supply achieves very high efficiency in light to no load conditions. The device offers a very small solution size in a WCSP package.
