The ST multi-function accelerometer offers class-leading resolution and low power consumption in a miniature package

     The STMicroelectronics LIS2DW12 3-axis accelerometer offers high measurement accuracy, design flexibility and energy efficiency, supports a variety of low power and low noise Settings, and is available in a 2mm x 2mm x 0.7mm package. Take context awareness of Internet of Things hardware (IoT) and wearables to a whole new level.

     STMicroelectronics' new family of low-power, high-performance MEMS products, the LIS2DW12(as well as LSM6DSM, LSM6DSL, and LSM303AH), has a 12-bit output that can be set to low-power or low-noise priority modes, with five Settings for each mode. A special feature of the new product, combined with four Settings for each mode, saves the time needed to wake up the system to check data and enables efficient single-byte transmission, thereby minimizing system power consumption and extending battery life. Noise density is as low as 90µg/√Hz, which is at least 25% lower than similar products in the market, helping to improve the measurement accuracy of the next generation of health, fitness, gaming, industrial sensing, environmental monitoring and other devices.

     The standby current of the LIS2DW12 is only 50nA, and the working current of the low-power mode is 380nA at the 1.6Hz data output rate, so the load added to the battery is negligible. Power supply voltage 1.62-3.6V, power supply can be selected coin battery or button battery. System-level energy saving features include a 32-level FIFO, built-in temperature sensor, and programmable interrupt pins. Interrupt pins are used to detect free fall, wake up, active/inactive, 6D/4D orientation, and click/double-click events.
