The first two devices in a new series of ceramic substrates, high power UV leds with silicone lenses
Vishay Semiconductors has introduced the first two devices of a new series of ceramic base, high power UV leds with silicone lenses - the VLMU3500-385-060 and the VLMU3500-385-120. Vishay Semiconductors VLMU3500-385-060 and VLMU3500-385-120 have a very long service life and are available in a small 3.5mm x 3.5mm surface mount package with the advantages of reliability and energy efficiency to replace mercury lamps for medical, industrial and printing applications.
The VLMU3500-385-060 and VLMU3500-385-120 use silicone lenses that last far longer than typical mercury lamps. Environmentally friendly UV leds do not contain heavy metals, have good impact resistance and will not deteriorate due to frequent on/off switching, improving reliability. Mercury lamps require a complex drive circuit and 2 to 15 minutes to preheat, while the VLMU3500-385-060 and VLMU3500-385-120 only need to use a simple low-voltage circuit, and no preheating.
Manufactured using InGaN(Indium gallium nitride technology), the device has typical radiant power of 780mW and 1,037 MW at 500mA and 700mA, and a wavelength range between 380nm and 390nm. The emission Angle of VLMU3500-385-060 is 60℃, and the emission Angle of VLMU3500-385-120 is 120℃. These devices have radiation intensities of 730mW/sr and 390mW/sr at 700mA, respectively.
The LED's specifications make it ideal for UV curing in nail art, dental and poster printing applications, blood and counterfeit banknote detection, and photocatalytic purification. The VLMU3500-385-060 and VLMU3500-385-120 are RoHS and Vishay green compliant, halogen-free, reflow solderable and moisture sensitive to J-STD-020 level 2.
