The u-blox M8 multiple GNSS receiver has built-in security features for the highest level of performance

     U-blox, a global leader in wireless and positioning modules and chips, announced that it has introduced a new version of FW 3.01 firmware for its u-blox M8 synchronous multi-GNSS platform. In addition to satellite systems such as GPS, GLONASS, Beidou, QZSS and SBAS, u-blox M8 FW 3.01 now supports the Galileo system. It can track three galaxies simultaneously and utilize all SBAS and QZSS augmentation systems at the same time.

     With the completion of Galileo, the European Positioning System will have access to 24 additional satellites, thereby significantly increasing the availability of GNSS signals and further improving positioning accuracy in built-up urban environments. The u-blox M8 supports Galilea-based eCall, Europe's emergency call system, which is scheduled to become a standard feature on new vehicles from 2018. The u-blox M8 also supports the Russian eCall system ERA-GLONASS.In addition, by leveraging FW 3.01, the u-blox M8 now improves the capture sensitivity of the BDS and adds support for India's GAGAN enhancement system.

     U-blox M8 chips and modules operate reliably in harsh environmental conditions and under security attack. As more and more wireless systems rely on GNSS location capabilities, security threats, such as drone steering or hacking into car electronics, have become commonplace. u-blox has built FW 3.01 with the results of many years of research into safety mechanisms from its R&D LABS. The anti-spoofing function detects forged GNSS signals, while the message integrity protection system prevents "man-in-the-middle" attacks. In addition, another security feature detects and supters interference. Since all features are built into u-blox M8 FW 3.01, these security mechanisms are more effective than external systems.

     The automotive Grade u-blox M8 products operate at a wide range of operating temperatures from -40 ° C to 105 ° C and have been certified AEC-Q100 Grade 2. The wide temperature range also facilitates more flexible integration of automotive applications, such as the ability to integrate the u-blox M8 GNSS receiver with a roof antenna operating at temperatures up to 105 ° C.

     Another welcome feature of FW 3.01 is its 10% lower power consumption compared to previous firmware versions of u-blox M8.
