Vishay's current-blocking electronic fuses simplify the design and minimize the need for external components

Vishay's electronic fuse comes with programmable current limiting and OVP capabilities in a compact 3 mm x 3 mm TDFN package. The 3.5 A SiP32433A/B and 6 A SiP32434A/B are designed to operate over a wide input voltage range of 2.8V to 23 V, have 28 VIN DC tolerance, and integrate a variety of control and protection features to simplify the design and minimize the need for external components.

Most similar solutions only offer voltages up to 18 V or lack a low voltage side, but the input voltage range of SiP32433A/B and SiP32434A/B allows them to be used in a wider range of designs. The single-channel load switch provides precise control and fast fault response to enhance system design security and reliability, while improving design flexibility and simplifying the BOM. When shut down due to a lockable fault, SiP32433A and SiP32434A are designed to lock the power switch in the off position, while SiP32433B and SiP32434B will automatically retry after a set amount of time.

All four devices respond quickly to short circuits, and their precise overcurrent protection (OCP) is triggered at a set current-limiting level without excessive overhead current, an important feature of the design of a power bus that needs to support multiple loads. Other solutions in this class typically require overhead current of more than 30%.

SiP32433A and SiP32433B have the active reverse block function and are suitable for applications with USB Type-C and multi-power switching. The load switch reduces on-off resistance by 43% compared to the previous generation solution, which represents a 32% increase in current capacity or efficiency for the same current level.
