Vishay's new BiSy two-wire ultra-low capacitance ESD protection diode provides security for high-speed data lines

     Vishay Intertechnology has announced the introduction of a new bi-symmetric (BiSy) two-wire ESD protection diode, the VBUS05M2-HT1. The device is available in an ultra-small LLP1006-3L package for portable electronics. The Vishay Semiconductors VBUS05M2-HT1 is space-saving compared to SOT32-packaged products and features ultra-low capacitance and leakage current to protect high-speed data lines from interference from transient transient voltage signals.

     The device is less than 0.4mm tall and has a typical load capacitance of 0.35pF. The VBUS05M2-HT1 has a "flow" design and is suitable for protecting high-speed data cables such as HDMI, DisplayPort, eSATA, USB 3.0, 1394/FireWire and Thunderbolt in smartphones, tablets, laptops and wearables. The maximum leakage current of the protective diode at 5.5V operating voltage is less than 0.1μA, the typical breakdown voltage at 1mA is 8.5V, and the maximum clamp voltage at 3.6A is 18V.

     The VBUS05M2-HT1 provides data lines with ±20kV(air and contact discharge) transient protection according to per IEC 61000-4-2. The device has a moisture sensitive rating (MSL) of J-STD-020, a fire resistance of UL 94 V-0, and can withstand reflow soldering at +260 ° C for 10 seconds. The welding quality can be checked with standard visual inspection equipment without the need for X-rays. Protection diodes comply with RoHS and Vishay green standards and are halogen-free.
